Fitch Fuel Catalyst

When Nora Hewitt - V.P. of Advanced Power Systems Intl. - first told me about the Fitch Fuel Catalyst product, I was pretty skeptical. I have worked with plenty of fuel additives in the past and found marginal increases in performance at best, so I wasn't sure this new thing Nora was explaining to me would really make a difference. She convinced me to try their product for a season in both our sleds and to try some power equipment.

The product
Fitch Fuel Catalyst is NOT an additive. It is a permanent fuel treatment for hydrocarbon fuels. It comes in the form of a very small open plastic cartridge with several round metal spheres inside that are made out of numerous metals bonded together to form an alloy by proprietary process. To use the product, you simply drop the cartridge into the gas tank of your machine and forget about it.

The catalyst basically removes molecules of oxygen, ozone, microorganisms and more that find their way into fuel both at the refinery and afterwards. These molecules degrade the fuel, but the Fitch Catalyst claims to reverse the affects these forces have on the fuel before it enters your tank and prevents these fuel degrading molecules from attacking fuel in the tank. According to Nora, the fuel is thus more uniform, potent and stable, and it can actually clean up your engine with repeated use.

The catalyst should improve fuel economy, horsepower and torque, reduce emission and carbon engine deposits, extend engine life and more.

Mid-season report
This year we were fortunate enough to have a big snowstorm early in the year and I got out my trusty old Ariens snowblower. Mind you, this infernal machine hasn't run well for me in the last several years, but I still get the job done with plenty of stalling and sputtering along the way. I run plenty of tanks of gas through this thing every year too, so my neighbors always hear a few curse words coming from my driveway after a storm.

I was about to start cleaning and replacing parts on the old Ariens, starting with the fuel lines, fuel pump, carb and basically spending way too much time on an early 1980's machine. So I figured I would drop a Fitch Fuel Catalyst in the thing just for kicks. I have been literally shocked at how well it has performed since adding the catalyst. My snowblower has run flawlessly through 3 more big snowstorms.

As for use in our snowmobiles, the catalyst is sitting in our new Arctic Cat F8 and we have several hundred miles on the sled so far this year. I will reserve my full comments on performance until the end of the season, but so far the report is quite favorable.
