For 2012 Ski-Doo rolls out the new rMotion rear suspension (LINK) along with an extended Freeride lineup that adds137- and 146-inch versions. Plus there are new GSX SE 800R and 600 H.O. E-TEC models, and the Skandic SWT moves into the REV-XU chassis.

The rMotion is the newest and possibly the most capable suspension on the market and the new quick adjust version offered in Spring Buy models is the easiest to adjust by far. The Freeride backcountry extreme sled now offers more track lengths (154, 146 and 137) and versatility than before. The Freerides all feature the REV-XP RS chassis with all the race goodies, including KYB Pro 40 shocks.

The 800R E-TEC is spread further into the Ski-Doo lineup for 2012 with the GSX segment now getting it as one of 3 engine options (1200 4-TEC, 800R E-TEC, and 600 H.O. E-TEC)

The 60 hp super-efficient 4-stroke ACE 600 engine also returns this year and will be available in numerous trail, touring, and utility sleds. This is one that we tested this winter in TNT trim and got nearly the 29 mpg that Ski-Doo predicted. (See more on that in our Real World Shootout report coming in the Spring AmSnow issue that mails March 11 and is on newsstands later in the month.)

There also is a totally new Skandic Super Wide Track sled that now comes in the REV-XU chassis and lost 52 lbs. Engine options are either the 600 H.O. E-TEC or the ACE 600.

Among the dozens of changes across Ski-Doo’s line this year there is also a new PowderMax II track with 2.5-inch paddles for the Summit mountain lineup.
