2012 Freeride Backcountry Snowmobiles Comparison Test
EXTREME BACKCOUNTRY MODELS MULTIPLY TO SPAWN A NEW SEGMENT
Published:
November 1, 2011 Just in case there was any doubt, it looks like the backcountry freeride segment is here to stay. With additional new models from the three 2-stroke manufacturers, this segment has exploded to become a staple in their lineups. Backcountry freeride machines are at their core, high horsepower mountain snowmobiles with wider front-ends, upgraded suspensions and other premium features. With their high-end suspensions these machines are built to take a beating and have become the weapon of choice for hillclimb racers and extreme backcountry freeriders, hence the segment’s name.
If you are looking for a machine to handle big drops, gravity defying “hucks” or to pummel rough trails, a freeride sled is what you should be looking at. |
