SKI-DOO TEAMS UP WITH AVALANCHE ORGANIZATIONS TO FURTHER RIDER SAFETY AND EDUCATION

November 2020 Feature

BRP/Ski-Doo is fully committed to rider safety – especially when it comes to riding in avalanche terrain. This season the brand is taking that commitment several steps further with multiple initiatives focused on improving rider safety and awareness in the backcountry.

Ski-Doo is working with various avalanche safety organizations throughout North America to assist in furthering avalanche awareness, forecasting and education. By loaning Ski-Doo snowmobiles to these organizations, they are better able to access and assess terrain and snowpack, provide more accurate information to all users of the backcountry, and cover more ground quickly in avalanche rescue scenarios.

Additionally, Ski-Doo is once again offering free avalanche education to riders of all brands in order to help them learn to make safe, sound decisions in backcountry terrain. For more than a decade, these classes have been offered in-person at various BRP dealerships across North America. This year, the company is exchanging that for a virtual element to allow even more riders access to this valuable – and potentially lifesaving – information.

Taught by Mike Duffy of Avalanche 1 and in cooperation with leading equipment manufacturer Backcountry Access (BCA), this online video series is broken down into different modules that allows riders to consume information at their desired pace. Riders will gain access to Duffy’s 20+ years of avalanche safety, education and rescue experience. Topics include terrain evaluation, proper use of avalanche safety gear, best riding practices in avalanche terrain and more.

Each online video module can be found at http://www.ski-doo.com/avalanche.html. There is also an opportunity for participants to win free BCA avalanche safety gear through online contests.

With the anticipated increased interest in the sport of snowmobiling, BRP is once again proud to be leading the way in avalanche education and safety for both experienced and new backcountry winter worshippers.
