AmSnow.com is now SnoWest.com

Sure, it's cool to talk shop with the boys about what pipe, head, airbox, or whatever aftermarket parts you have put in your sled. But how do you know that any of that stuff you slapped on actually makes more power?

More importantly are you transferring that power to the snow and are you now going faster? Your exhaust tone and the seat of your pants don't tell you much!

The best way to determine if your mods are making more power is to put your sled on a dynamometer and the best way to tell if each different modification is making power, is to dyno each piece in stages. Often people will add something like a manifold and then later add an exhaust or pipe and complain that they aren't seeing more power.

The best way to know what power your mods are adding is to dyno your sled. So we did just that with a 2009 Ski-Doo XP 800R in the dyno room at Bikeman Performance (BMP) in Osceola, Wis.
