The world's biggest and best snowmobile film festival rips up the screen at the Tower Theater on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 6 p.m. Top professional sled filmmakers take viewers into steep, deep backcountry locations across the globe with the hottest films making tracks this year--all competing for the coveted YETI award. Aspiring filmmakers also have a chance to win the Amateur YETI and have their winning short film shown on the big screen in the SLEDFILM amateur film contest.
Event organizer Ben Hansen says that the SLEDFILM line-up rivals anything attendees could expect to see in anywhere in the world and is attended by backcountry enthusiasts and pro riders alike.
"The worlds most prominent snowmobile film producers have submitted films for this event," Hansen says. "SLEDFILM has grown into what is widely recognized as the leading film festival of its kind, and one of the hottest pre-season snowmobile events period.
Hansen adds that "Bend, OR, is the perfect location for SLEDFILM, and the event has helped the area gain visibility within the snowmobile community, bringing in riders from around the country."
Hansen says that Polaris professional rider Dan Adams flew in for last years show and will be there again this year--signing autographs and meeting with fans--along with other professional riders and filmmakers from around the US.
"I was blown away when attending SLEDFILM 11 and I am excited for SLEDFILM 12," Adams said. "The event is incredible, it is professionally produced and the fans are rabid--there is nothing like it on earth."
Polaris is the title sponsor for the second year in a row. "We are excited that Polaris continues to view SLEDFILM as the world's premier film festival, one worthy of their time and resources," Hansen says. In addition to support from Polaris, SLEDFILM is sponsored by close to 100 other businesses, from the local, national and international level Hansen says.
Coinciding with the film screenings, raffles will take place throughout the night with audience members walking away with over $10,000 in prizes.
"Amazing prizes have been donated by leading snowmobile vendors", Hansen said. "The loot is ridiculous, from lodge stays, riding clinics, apparel and gear to parts and accessories."
